Synopsis

Desiring to see how the other half live, Mary Houston, a Long Island society girl, gets a dancing job at the Sphinx Night Club. Gang leader Pop Hanson, who owns the club, is scheming in tandem with Cassie and "Gentleman" Harry Fraser to swindle a Montana millionaire by having Harry pose as his long-lost brother. Harry falls for Mary and saves her during a police raid. Finding herself interested in Harry, Mary agrees to pose as his wife, though she is startled to learn the swindlers will use the temporarily deserted mansion of her aunt as base of operations. Mary asks George Harcourt, one of her admirers, to impersonate the intended victim; enraged by jealousy, Harcourt accuses Harry of being a fortune-hunting crook and summons the police. Pop and Cassie are arrested, and it develops that Harry is actually a playwright researching material for one of his stories.
