Synopsis

Moko, the clown, knowing he has but a short time to live, is taking his son, Shawn, to a convent school in Darwin, Texas. Moko dies on the way, and Shawn unwittingly takes up with an escaped convict, Peter, who uses Moko's makeup and identity to conceal himself from the authorities. Peter and Shawn take jobs with an amusement park owned by Robin, who falls in love with Peter. Learning of Peter's true identity, Shawn rides off on his horse, "King," into a raging tornado. The police arrive for Peter, but he escapes to search for Shawn. Finding him unconscious from a fall, Peter brings him back for aid, knowing he must give himself up to the police.
