Synopsis
While measuring pipe in the stock exchange, plumber Michael Clancy accidentally buys some stock and makes a quick $200 on a 20 percent margin. Clancy wishes to pursue this line of moneymaking, though his thrifty partner, Andy MacIntosh, refuses to participate. Clancy makes a fortune, leaves his business, and moves uptown. Making ludicrous attempts to enter high society, Clancy snubs MacIntosh and urges his daughter, Katie, to reject the MacIntosh son in favor of Freddie Saunders. Katie leaves home, the stock market crashes, and Clancy--a sadder but wiser man--returns to a forgiving MacIntosh.
