Synopsis
While residing in the town of Lodestone, feisty cowboy Cannonball recognizes newspaper publisher Jeff Adams and saloon keeper Cord Crowley as notorious swindlers and sends for his pal, Wild Bill Hickok, to clean up the town. Soon after, Bill rides into town and tries to enlist the support of banker Jason Perry and his daughter Lynn in bringing the swindlers to justice. Perry, however, thinks that the pair are legitimate businessmen, and consequently refuses to believe Bill. After Crowley tries to force Bill to leave town, Bill and Cannonball break into the newspaper office at night and reset the next day's front page to include a story about Adams' shady past. The next day, Adams, confronted with his criminal record, kills himself, and Crowley prepares to flee town before he, too, is exposed. To finance his getaway, Crowley robs the Lodestone bank, and when Lynn is shot during the robbery, Perry, who has been secretly in league with Crowley, goes gunning for Crowley, who kills him. Bill confronts Crowley in the saloon, and in the ensuing gun battle, Crowley perishes and Bill arrests his men. With law and order restored to the town of Lodestone, Lynn asks Bill to work for her, but he declines, and instead rides off to help some friends in trouble.
