Synopsis

The Black Lizard, a skillful woman jewel thief, kidnaps Sanae, the daughter of a jewel merchant in charge of the valuable Star of Egypt diamond. Famed detective Akechi frees the girl, but the Lizard kidnaps her again and demands the Star of Egypt as ransom. After the payment is made, the Lizard decides to keep the girl and add her to her collection of living statues. Akechi makes a final attempt to rescue Sanae, but, to all appearances, he is killed. As the Lizard sets off for her island hideaway, she discovers that Sanae is really a substituted double and that Matsu, the Lizard's confidant, is Akechi in disguise. Cornered, the Lizard takes poison and as she dies in the detective's arms, both realize they have come to love each other.
