Synopsis
Bruce Argyle hires famous detective Alexander Kayton to investigate the murder of his father, John Argyle, a capitalist. Argyle's adopted daughter, Mary Morgan, is suspected until Kayton's investigation reveals that Hurley, a former confidential attorney for Argyle, is actually Kreisler, a notorious counterfeiter who was imprisoned twenty years previously. Threatened with exposure to the police, Hurley, still involved in criminal activities, murders Argyle.
