Synopsis

Even though he disapproves of the harshness with which his father, the Colonel, treats his employees, Wayne Craighill joins the old man's mining business. Adding to the strain between father and son, Wayne soon falls in love with Jean, the daughter of a small mine owner whom the Colonel wants to put out of business. Jean insists, however, that she cannot continue the romance, and finally reveals that she is already married. Then, when the Colonel cannot meet his payroll, his workers, who have always hated him, go on a rampage. Wayne convinces the mob not to kill his father, and so they blow up his mines instead. One of the blasts kills Jean's husband, which enables her to return to Wayne, while another strikes oil, thereby replenishing the Craighill family fortune and allowing the Colonel to pay his men.
