Synopsis

Famed singer Eve Faugères, separated from her jealous husband, Maurice, a songwriter, falls in love with her accompanist, Jean Le Prat. Maurice is killed in a mysterious automobile accident, and (because they felt that Maurice stood in the way of their happiness) Eve and Jean begin to suspect each other of foul play. Their concern is intensified when Eve receives a recorded message from Maurice, and Maurice's friend and publisher, Georges Méliot, receives a new song from him. Eve and Jean's affair is nearly destroyed by their fear of Maurice's return. Finally Jean forces the publisher to admit to perpetrating a hoax. The publisher falls down an elevator shaft before he can explain why he carried out the hoax, and Eve and Jean are reunited.
