Synopsis

Preferring the distractions of the science laboratory to those of his wife, Lord Lumley, the "Mummy," forces the attractive Lady Lumley to seek attention elsewhere. The lady falls victim to the homewrecking advances of the writer D'Orelli, who has fled Italy for England to avoid a confrontation with Giuseppe, the husband of his last romantic conquest. After D'Orelli dedicates one of his novels to his wife, the Mummy becomes suspicious of his frequent visits, and when Giuseppe shows up at the Lumley estate and relates his story of betrayal, the lord correctly assesses the situation. To curtail a violent confrontation, Lumley hires Giuseppe as his valet and takes him abroad. During her husband's absence, Lady Lumley accepts D'Orelli's invitation to elope and goes to his apartment to rendezvous. Lumley returns in time to prevent the elopement and reunite with his wife but cannot stop Giuseppe from carrying out his murderous revenge on D'Orelli.
