Synopsis

At night the Easterner gambles away whatever he may have found during the day mining for gold. Moll, however, a disreputable old woman who is herself addicted to gambling, makes him promise to end his habit, after which he becomes engaged to the wealthy Doris Wendell. Peter Gardner, whose daughter Kate loves the Easterner, then tries to make him gamble away his mining claim, but the Easterner refuses. Then, the Easterner discovers that Moll is his mother, and Doris, shocked at the thought of having her for a mother-in-law, breaks the engagement. Peter finally persuades the Easterner to stake his claim in a card game, but then Oby, a long-time amnesiac, regains his memory, and recognizing Peter as the man who robbed him years before, shoots him. Dying, Peter confesses that Oby is Kate's father, after which the Easterner and Kate start making preparations for their wedding.
