Synopsis

Lorillard, an unscrupulous stockbroker, starts making advances toward Diane Winston immediately after her father Roger introduces them, but Diane is already in love with John Clarke, Lorillard's secretary. Lorillard lends Diane a string of pearls, which Roger returns, but then Lorillard claims that he never received the necklace. Roger dies of shock upon hearing the news, then Diane volunteers to work for Lorillard in order to pay her debt. Meanwhile, John decides to raise the money by making a killing on the stock market, but Lorillard, mustering all of his financial force, sets out to ruin him. Just as John is about to lose everything, Diane finds the pearls in Lorillard's office, sells them and gives the money to John, who uses it to topple Lorillard's financial empire.
