Synopsis
America's development at the time when England's control of Virginia was threatened by both the Indians and the Spanish is shown by describing Jamestown's Starving Time beginning in 1612. High Marshal Sir Thomas Dale holds Pocahontas as hostage in order to force Powhatan, her father, into joining the English colonists against the Spanish; but the marriage of John Rolfe to Pocahontas brings the groups together.
