Synopsis
When Viking chief Harald fails to return home after 3 years at sea, his wife, Karen, consults a soothsayer. Although assured that her husband will return, Karen is warned that there are dark days ahead for the Mocar tribe--a prophecy that is fulfilled when the exiled warrior Aghen amasses a band of marauders in the hope of seizing Harald's throne. Planning to make himself the legitimate king by forcing Karen to marry him, Aghen sends two of his men to abduct her. She is rescued by a stranger from a nearby village who is careful not to reveal that his name is Rurik. Years before, after his wife and son had been beheaded by Aghen, Rurik's hatred for the Mocar people had driven him to assault Karen after her wedding. Though still determined to have revenge on Aghen, Rurik is anxious to atone for his own brutal act. Following a duel between Rurik and Aghen, from which the latter flees, Harald returns. Recognizing the man who raped his wife, Harald engages Rurik in combat, but their fighting is interrupted when it is learned that Harald's son Moki has been kidnaped by Aghen. Now united, the two men go to the child's aid, and Rurik finally slays his enemy. His vengeance complete, Rurik leaves the village.
