Synopsis

During World War II, British secret agent Elaine parachutes from her disabled plane over Malaya. She is found in the jungle by Sergeant Crewe, who is held as a POW by the Japanese in a camp the inmates call "Blood Island" because of the sadistic officers in charge. She hides in Crewe's barracks with his fellow prisoners--Bludgin, Levy, O'Reilly, and Major Dryden. The Japanese are aware that a female enemy agent is in the area, and to obtain information about her, they torture Bludgin to death and begin to work on the other men. Elaine confides to her comrades that she must reach Kuala Lumpur, and they all work on her escape plans. But the Japanese beat Major Dryden and Levy until they produce Elaine. The Japanese begin to torture her; but because of her importance, they decide to take her to Singapore for interrogation. At the cost of their own lives, however, Crewe and Dryden assist Elaine to escape.
