Synopsis

"Ollie's Army" examines the passion and the fury of the grassroots support behind Oliver North's historic 1994 Virginia Senate campaign. Although there was intense local and national media coverage of North's maiden political voyage, it took a neophyte filmmaker to uncover the campaign's most unsettling story. The College Republicans of James Madison University invited Brett Morgen to film their strategy meetings at which the students openly engage in political subterfuge: they decide to infiltrate and overthrow the opposing leftist Democratic club. Morgen documents the entire subversive act and its ramifications by students inspired by North, master of covert operations.
