Synopsis

American heiress Florence Brent wants to marry the aristocratic Duke of Buritz, with whom she has traveled to Europe. On the orders of the duke's father, however, Evelyn must have a title before a wedding can take place, and so she quickly marries Count Janefski, the duke's friend, with plans of becoming a countess and a divorcée in quick succession. Then, after the ceremony, Florence discovers that the duke already has a wife, while the count grows increasingly enthusiastic about being married. Finally, Florence's American sweetheart, John Oglesby, who has followed her to Europe, pulls a pistol on the count, and lets him decide between making himself an ex-husband or Florence a widow. After the count chooses the former, John takes Florence back to America and marries her.
