Synopsis

Mrs. Jacob Politz, whose son and husband are coal miners, saves for years to send her son, Frank, to college and implores Anne, a girl to whom he becomes engaged, not to stand in the way of his college career. At college Frank's athletic prowess wins him a place on the football team, and he is lionized by the wealthy college set, which spreads the rumor that he is a foreign nobleman. Mrs. Politz and Frank's friend Ed, eager to see Frank play, come to the college town, unknown to each other; and Mrs. Politz obtains work as a waitress in the local cafe. After Frank leads the team to victory, a dinner in his honor is given at the cafe, and when his mother's identity is revealed, Frank's friends turn against him. Returning to the mining town, he saves Ed from a mining disaster, and Anne, who has been betrothed to Ed, is released by him and happily reunited with Frank.
