Synopsis

Nancy Hawthorne, an unsophisticated English girl reared in seclusion by her artist father, goes to Paris to pursue her studies and there meets Cornelia Evans, a worldly-wise American art student, who invites her to a party given for her brother, Lloyd, and his chum, Bob Whittaker, both from Oxford. Nancy finds Bob to be the boy of her dreams; and they spend a weekend together at a beach, where their mutual feeling gains in intensity during a storm. Feeling himself unworthy of Nancy, Bob contrives to be discovered in an affectionate pose with Heloise. Nancy, her illusions demolished, returns to England. At the outbreak of war, Nancy enlists as an ambulance driver and is reunited with Bob on the battlefields of France. They are married before the regiment leaves for the front.
