Synopsis

Sally Simpson, a smalltown girl, is helped by her sacrificing mother and grandmother in her ambition to embark on a Hollywood career, although her fiancé, Johnny Nash, tries to dissuade her. In Hollywood, Sally finds hard realities but luckily gets an extra part and makes friends with Lucille Lareaux, a friendly old trouper. While her mother is working to make ends meet, Sally, though jobless, sends home letters about her success. Through the influence of a friend she meets Grant Payne, who spends his money on innocent Hollywood girls, and he intimates that he will do something for her, "provided ... ." When Sally fails miserably at an acting job, she gets work in a beanery. Her mother needs money for an operation, and Sally is prepared to sacrifice herself to Grant just as Johnny arrives, summoned by Lucille, and overcomes Payne in a fight. Sally gives up her career ambitions for Johnny.
