Synopsis

Rose, the adopted Irish daughter of the Rosensteins, Second Avenue pawnshop owners, is much sought after by Tim McCarthy, a wealthy Irish contractor many years her senior. Her adopted brother, Nat, is accused of stealing from his firm and is arrested and put in jail; Rosenstein, heartbroken, becomes seriously ill. McCarthy offers to pay Nat's bail provided that Rose will marry him; and although she is in love with Terry O'Brien, Rose consents to the marriage. Shortly afterward, Nat is released and proves his innocence; and McCarthy, realizing that Rose is unhappy with a "second-hand" husband, releases her so that she may marry young O'Brien.
