Synopsis

Young Gordon Carbhoy is given $5000 by his wealthy father and told to make good. After being thrown off the train in Montana on his way to the Yukon, Gordon is befriended by Silas Mallinsbee and his daughter Helen. Old Mallinsbee confides in Gordon his get-rich-quick scheme to have the railroad cut through the town, which is being thwarted by the high terms that David Slosson, the western agent, is demanding. When Gordon learns that the railroad is owned by his father, he conceives of a plan to kidnap both Slosson and Carbhoy, and then telegraphs New York to begin work immediately on the new branch road. When property prices boom because of the news of the impending railway, Gordon strikes it rich and his father's anger changes to pride in his son's business acumen. Carbhoy then approves of the new branch road as well as Gordon's choice of Helen as a wife.
