Synopsis

Puck, who dances in a London music hall, is rescued from a stage fire by Captain Merryon, home on leave from his post in India. The next day, Puck reads that she, along with her cruel husband, a vaudeville strongman named Vulcan, are among those reported killed in the fire. Because she has fallen in love with Merryon, she agrees to accompany him to India, hoping that the reports of Vulcan's death are true. Puck and Merryon live happily until Sylvester, who had unsuccessfully sought to woo her in London, appears and threatens to contact Vulcan in Bombay unless she submits to him. When she refuses, Sylvester wires Vulcan, who promises to ruin Merryon's career if she fails to join him. Leaving Merryon a note of apology, Puck goes to Vulcan's hut to find that he has contracted cholera. Though weak, Vulcan tries to beat Puck, but falls dead from the exertion just as Merryon arrives and takes her in his arms.
