Synopsis

Though typist Helen Stanton loves wealthy Richard Hale, she refuses to marry him. Mrs. Hale prefers that he marry Marion Ames, her ward and a society girl, and solicits the aid of Jim Breen, her cousin, in convicing Richard. Helen unwillingly elopes with Richard, but she is received coldly by the family; Mrs. Dale persuades Richard that Helen and Breen are unduly intimate and hires a detective to watch her. Dick accuses Helen; she pleads with him; but he goes in a rage to Breen. Breen overpowers him and informs him that Helen's father has been wrongfully jailed and that she wishes to keep this fact a secret. Dick repents, Helen's father is freed through Breen, and they are all reunited.
