Synopsis

Out West with her father, a crafty financier, and her fiancé, fortune hunter Gerald Hopkins, Isabel Carter is rescued along with Hopkins by Burt Radcliffe, a young prospector, after they are treed by a pet bear searching for chocolates. Later in Philadelphia, Burt discovers that Haskell Carter, who, unknown to him, is Isabel's father, is squeezing him out of his holdings. After his gold-digging fiancée leaves him and he discharges his servants, Burt contemplates gunning down Carter, when Isabel arrives in a rainstorm mistaking Burt's address for Hopkins'. When Burt discovers who she is and she suggests that he fight the thief by his own methods, Burt telephones Carter and says that athough Carter has the mine, he has his daughter. While Carter, Hopkins, and detectives frantically search, Burt and Isabel enjoy a cosy supper. After Carter finds them, Burt locks him in the house, while he and Isabel elope.
