Synopsis
Tim McGuerin, a former Brooklyn taxicab driver, has worked his way to the top of the profitable Red Circle cab company. Together with his business partner, Eddie Corbett, Tim has made a name for the company. Though Tim enjoys the rewards of a successful business venture, his marriage to the jealous Sadie has not been as successful. One day, Sadie catches her husband nearly embracing his pretty secretary, Lucy Gibbs, at the office billiard table, and accuses him of philandering. Despite Tim's insistence that he was merely showing Lucy how to make a difficult shot, Sadie refuses to believe him and leaves. Determined to convince Sadie of his faithfulness, Tim takes her to the Penguin Club, where Eddie has been instructed by pose as Lucy's sweetheart. Complications arise, however, when Sadie, heeding the advice of her "body conditioning" instructor, Professor Samson, refuses to go to the club. Meanwhile, back at the Penguin Club, Marcia Marsden, the woman Eddie was supposed to take out, arrives unexpectedly, and catches Eddie in a lie. Eddie tries to explain that his date with Lucy is the business meeting he told her about, but Marcia does not believe him and causes a scene. Hoping to clear up the misunderstanding, Eddie telephones Tim and tells him to rush over to the club, but Tim arrives just as police raid the place. While Tim helps Lucy escape through a window, a photographer snaps their photograph, and the picture of their apparent embrace is printed in the newspapers the following day. Unable to bear the insult of the scandal, Sadie goes to Professor Samson's Paradise Spa to get a complete conditioning and make her husband jealous. Attempting yet again to prove to his wife that he is blameless, Tim takes Eddie and Lucy to Samson's Paradise for a showdown. When Marcia learns of Tim and Eddie's trip to Samson's, she follows them there and picks a fight with Eddie. After Eddie and Marcia leave, Tim tries to win his wife's love anew by staging a phony fight for her honor. The plan backfires, though, when Sadie discovers the ruse, and she throws Tim a real punch.

The McGuerins from Brooklyn was also one of Hal Roach's "streamlined features," a series of short comedies intended to fill the second half of a double bill. The first streamlined feature was the 1941 film Tanks a Million (see below).
