Synopsis

Angered by the assertions of the townspeople that his late father swindled them in an oil well proposition, Matthew Denton finally breaks away from the apron strings of his mother and leaves for Texas to look into the matter. Pretending to be a laborer in the oil fields, Matthew discovers that the superintendent of the wells, Banty Jones, has been tapping the main pipeline and selling the oil on his own accord, hence the shortage in the stockholder's dividends. However, Matthew is afraid to confront Jones until the superintendent insults Mabel Glenny, the pretty daughter of the town drunk. His manhood aroused, Matthew regains the missing funds, as well as winning Mabel as his bride, and proves that he is not his mother's boy.
