Synopsis

Granger Hume, seeing his name posted for reward, discovers at a masquerade ball--where he meets and falls in love with Mary (or Nancy) Carrol--that Bill (or Badger) Brogan, a wealthy land-baron, seeks the capture of Hume and his partners because of a grudge against Dad Walker. In a confrontation with Brogan's henchmen, Walker is killed; but before dying, he tells Hume that the gospel of the gun is wrong and makes him promise not to avenge his death by shooting Brogan. Disguised as a parson, Hume overhears Brogan's plot to raid neighboring ranches and warns the people, and in self-defense he is forced to break his promise by killing Brogan when he is pursued by his men. Hume is lauded as a hero and wins the love of Mary.
