Synopsis

On the eve of his wedding, wealthy miner Stuart Kirkwood discovers that his fiancée, Peggy Carter, has eloped with George Rothwell. After the lovers are hurled to their death in an accident, Kirkwood turns his attentions to raising Renee D'Armand, the daughter of a friend who was killed in a mine cave-in. Kirkwood sends Renee to a boarding school, where she remains until she is eighteen. Returning home as a young woman, Renee gives Kirkwood new hope by helping him to forget the unfortunate love affair of his youth. His hopes are dashed, however, when Rothwell's son George, Jr., whom Renee has met at school, appears. Believing that Renee is in love with the youth, Kirkwood prepares to depart for an extended trip, when he learns that Renee loves him and not George, Jr. His unhappy past forgotten, Kirkwood prepares for a joyous future with Renee.
