Synopsis

When Sid Hunt returns to his Carolina mountain home from the war and is welcomed as a hero, Rufe Pryer, a hired man who covets Jude Lowrie, Sid's sweetheart, and is envious of Sid's courage and honesty, determines to bring about his downfall. Under the guise of a psalm-singing religious fanatic, Rufe rekindles a feud between the Hunts and Lowries; and when his methods fail to take effect, he proceeds to dynamite a dam. The escaping water floods the local countryside and pours into a cellar where Andy, Jude's brother, is caught along with Sid. When Rufe sees Jude helpless in the water, he frees the men so that they may rescue her, but he himself is swept away by the torrent. Jude and Sid are happily reunited.
