Synopsis

Unjustly imprisoned for fifteen years, David Webster, hoping to visit his wife, escapes; but he arrives in time only to see her funeral procession. The convict receives shelter from Li Fang, a Chinese politician; disguises himself as a crippled beggar to escape the police; and meets his daughter, the Angel Lady, to whom he does not reveal his identity. Determined to have revenge on Fletcher Burton, the man who sent him to prison, Webster finally corners his enemy and obtains a signed confession. At that moment, Webster's daughter enters the room, and he learns of her desire to marry Burton's son, Ted. In exchange for Burton's approval of the marriage Webster destroys the confession and returns to prison satisfied with the knowledge of his daughter's happiness.

"There is a bit of inserted action, illustrating a tale related to the impatient Webster by the philosophic Li Fang, which is told in color with Chinese players." (from Exhibitor's Trade Review 19 August 1922)
