Synopsis

Arabella Flynn, a model and errand girl for a fashionable dressmaker, inherits $800 from her Aunt Bettina and immediately moves into a posh hotel wearing the new finery from her shop. She begins a love affair with Jack Forsythe, the son of a wealthy corset maker, although a mysterious Spaniard, Signor Rodrigues -- actually the executor of Aunt Bettina's will -- keeps constant watch over her. Arabella is besieged by the tradesmen of the city until a lawyer's clerk reports to the hotel staff that the check was written in error and that Arabella is a swindler. Jack, jealous of Rodrigues' attentions to Arabella, leaves town, and Arabella is about to commit suicide when Aunt Bettina's lawyer explains that the check should have been made out for $80,000 rather than $800. Rodrigues admits that he had been hired by the eccentric aunt merely to determine Arabella's character, and Jack returns to his happy heiress.
