Synopsis

Tainted by her mother's reputation as proprietress of a roadhouse, Kate Prentice is saved from the unwelcome advances of Pete Mullendore by Mormon Joe. Accepting Joe's hospitality, Kate comes to share the shepherd's home. Invited to the town dance by Easterner Hughie Disston, Kate is shunned by the villagers for her relationship with Mormon Joe. Crushed, the innocent girl goes home, even though Hughie ignores the gossip and proclaims his love for her. Later that night, Mormon Joe is murdered and suspicion falls upon Kate. After charges are dismissed for lack of evidence, Kate vows to find the murderer of Mormon Joe. Transformed from an innocent girl to the fighting shepherdess, Kate's name is finally cleared when Pete, dying from a gunshot wound, admits that he committed the crime. The burden of guilt lifted from her shoulders, Kate is free to pursue a happy future with Hughie.
