Synopsis

Henry Baird, a young newspaperman with a car but little money, leaves for the country of his sweetheart Mabel Darrow in order to avoid being sued by his tailor. On the way, mishaps occur, and Henry raffles off his car at a village bazaar, turning the money over to his cousin who is to settle the tailor's bill. Youngsters set the car on fire, however, before it can be given to the winner, Joseph Plant, whose wife Evelyn was formerly Henry's sweetheart. Henry then arranges with Joe to work for two weeks at Joe's house, which is next door to Mabel's. Joe, who suspects that Henry and Evelyn are still secretly fond of each other, gives Henry only menial tasks to perform. Despite complications, including misunderstandings on the part of Mabel's father and the arrival of Dorothy Kind pretending to be Henry's wife, Henry maintains his honor and wins Mabel.
