Synopsis

Yolanda, the daughter of a poor Russian peasant, by chance meets Duke Boris, who is enchanted by her beauty. Upon discovering Yolanda's longings to become a dancer, the duke offers to defray all expenses for the girl to come to Petrograd, chaperoned by her mother and enter the Russian ballet. While in the Russian capitol, she meets the artist Alexander, and a mutual love springs into being. After her success as a dancer, the duke forces his attentions upon Yolanda, and during the scuffle, Serge, her brother, interferes and the duke is killed. Prince Drolinski, a lifelong friend of the duke's and an ardent admirer of Yolanda, discovers the murder, but moved by Yolanda's pleas, allows Serge to escape. Yolanda then accompanies Alexander into exile until the prince can secure a pardon for them.

Notes

Some sources call the actress portraying "Olga," Madame Rofimoda or Madam Rofimonda. This film was recalled by the Ontario, Canada Board of Censors because, according to a news item, the showing of the banishment of innocent prisoners to Sibera put an allied country in a bad light.
