Synopsis
An only child, John Middleton at first resents Mary, an orphan adopted by his mother, then gradually becomes resigned, feels brotherly affection, and finally falls in love with her. But before John can bring himself to propose to Mary, she announces her engagement to Willy Brown. With difficulty John reconciles himself to his loss, keeps it to himself, and gives the bride away to Willy.
