Synopsis
Danny O'Rourke, the son of an Irish-American policeman who dies a hero, is training to join the force. His sweetheart, Maggie, is the daughter of a police lieutenant. When society girl Miriam Welton arrives in their slum neighborhood to do social work, she nearly causes a split between the two lovers. Danny takes his final examination and thinks he has failed. At the same time, Danny's sister Shannon is caught shoplifting. Danny enters a prizefighting contest to raise money to save his sister. He loses the fight but discovers that an error in the scoring of his examination makes him eligible to join the police force.
