Synopsis

New York factory worker Susan Sweeney inherits a hotel in the Adirondacks. Full of enthusiasm, Susan sets out for the hotel, which proves to be a dilapidated saloon frequented by derelicts and run by the disreputable William Kibby. Despite her distaste, Susan stays, hoping to reform the establishment and its patrons. In her campaign against drink and vice, Susan is supported by lawyer Austin Strong, whose political rival is the unscrupulous Sam Tupper. Although Austin's sister Miriam and Dick Wellman elope, registering at the hotel as man and wife, Susan convinces the couple of their folly and persuades them to return home. Sam, however, obtains the incriminating page from the hotel guest book and attempts to blacken the Strong name. When Sam is slain during a fight with Dick, Susan supplies Dick with a false alibi. Suspicion falls on Susan, but Dick and Miriam confess to Austin. Exonerated, Susan marries Austin.
