Synopsis

Kitty Grey runs away from home to escape marriage to an undesirable suitor. On the road, her car breaks down and she meets Robert Courtland, an artist, who, having been rejected by a woman, is lying across a railroad track intending to commit suicide. When Courtland sees Kitty, he decides to live, helps her repair her car, and drives on with her. At the Perkins' farm the car runs out of gasoline, and because Mother Perkins mistakenly believes that the two are honeymooners, they are compelled to share a room for the night. Kitty's father finds them the next day, and although their night together was spent quite innocently, he sends his daughter to a seminary. Courtland tries several times to rescue Kitty and eventually is successful. Pursued by Mr. Grey, the couple elope. When the angry father realizes that he has arrived too late, he blesses the marriage.
