Synopsis

Tamura, a Japanese landscape gardener living in America, is saving to marry his Japanese American sweetheart, Nume Rogers, while his friend, Watana, works for a Japanese merchant named Motoyoshi so that he can bring his wife and children to America. Watana is murdered on the day his wife Sat-Su arrives, and Tamura, having promised to take care of her and the children, marries her, despite his love for Nume. Heartbroken, Nume accepts money from Nason to study voice, but when she debuts successfully, Nason attacks her. Tamura rescues Nume and takes her to visit the dying Sat-Su, who explains Tamura's sacrifice. After Sat-Su's death, Tamura and Nume are reunited.
