Synopsis
A two-part, four-hour chronicle following two of Jesus' disciples, from his crucifixion and the three decades that followed in which they strive to keep Christ's faith alive to their fate in Rome of approximately A.D. 64, with the beheading of Paul and the crucifixion of Peter. Aside from the two leads there was some bizarre casting of which much was made. Jean Peters, as a Jewess who converts to Christianity, made a rare acting appearance here (previously she had been in the miniseries "Wheels" and a PBS special, "Winesburg, Ohio"). Emmy Awards went to the makeup artists, and a nomination was given to the film's costume designer.
