Synopsis

George Morris, who is constantly inventing excuses to cover up his philandering escapades, is about to separate again from his wife, Helen; but as George is leaving, a party of guests arrive, led by Paul Wilcox, a hard-drinking bachelor who greatly admires Helen; and by the end of the evening, husband and wife are reconciled. Later, at a gas station, George meets young Joan Whitley, and she insists on taking a cigarette lighter that Helen has recently given him. That evening, at a dinner party, Helen introduces George to her former roommate at school, who happens to be Joan, though she fails to recognize him. George implores the girl to return the lighter in the darkened library, but Helen finds it and takes her place; complications ensue when Paul, Joan's friend, occupies Helen's bedroom. Helen plans to get a divorce on grounds of desertion. George's car is stuck during a rainstorm, the presence of Paul and Helen in the back seat is revealed, and they are all robbed by thieves--eventually there is a return to marital bliss.
