Synopsis

Clay Brent is in love with Judy Ware, whose father John owns the town's bank. Ace Cain, who owns the rest of the town, is the bank's largest depositor. He would like to foreclose on ranchers who are having a bad time, but Ware is willing to wait until they can afford to pay back their loans. Ace is also interested in Judy and when Clay is late to the dance, Ace takes advantage of his absence to dance with her. As soon as Clay arrives, however, Judy leaves Ace in favor of Clay. Jealous, Ace plans to frame Clay for a stagecoach holdup by having one of his men planted on the stage to identify Clay as the bandit. Because the sheriff's brother is killed during the holdup, Clay is found guilty of murder as well as robbery and is sentenced to ten years in prison. After he is paroled for good behavior, he heads back to town to clear his name. The sheriff, who still blames Clay for his brother's death, insists that Clay give up his guns as a condition of his parole. At his father's saddle shop, Clay recognizes the conchos on Ace's saddle as coming from the robbery and plans to show them to the federal agents as proof of his innocence. Ace overhears his plan, however, and phones the agent, accusing Clay's father of planting the evidence on his saddle. Ace decides to clean out the town and head for Mexico. Tex, Clay's friend, reveals the plan to the sheriff, who arrives just in time to help Clay who has been holding off Ace's men singlehanded. Finally, Ace's gang is defeated and Clay and Judy ride off together.
