Synopsis
Riley Condor, outlaw leader of White Plains, Kansas, hires gunman Lee Ring to kill Tom Rosser, a Kansas lawman of the 1880's. Ring aims poorly and instead kills Rosser's wife, Carol. Two years later, Rosser moves to White Plains under the pretext of buying property but actually intending to wipe out Condor and his gang and thus end their harassment of engineer James Fenimore Fell's railroad workers. By preventing the new railroad from entering town, Condor hopes to keep law and order out of White Plains. Condor appoints Lee Ring and Honsinger, another killer, deputy sheriffs, frames Rosser in an arranged attack, and asks corrupt Judge Murcott to have him arrested. Town leaders Mayor Leach, Dr. Kent, Fell, Davis, and Kevin form a vigilante committee to protect the town. Rosser shields Susan Tavenner from her drunken husband's brutality, and Condor's gang beats him. The vigilantes try to gun down Condor and his gang, but the gang soon surrounds them. Rosser urges the town leaders to back down from their attack and singlehandedly eliminates the desperadoes. Among the dead is Guy Tavenner, and Rosser later marries his widow Susan.
